Universal Job Match Lies and Risking The Job Centre

They want to CLOSE the Job Centres...
This is What They Want...
This Is What Universal Job Match Website Is For
TO REPLACE THE JOB CENTRE
and get a digital footprint started on EVERYONE

And this is the ill thought plan is meant to help us?

Phil *****
This event is in the first full week of August. What day do people fancy doing Bootle Jobcentre?
Jobcentre Plus week of action: 5-9 August

Paul ****
as long as its direct action count me in or is this something union members cannot partake in during working hrs?

Traski *****
Am a unemployed union member count me in

Phil *****
Workers at the Jobcentre may have difficulty taking part, but we can engage with them during it. It will be direct action, yes. Ideally a sit in/occupation.

Paul ****
well you got me and a few more for an afternoon tea anyday if thats suitable..........Enuf is Enuf

Phil *****
Sound. Just need to pick the best day to get most people.

Bob *****
I gather a "sit in/occupation" means people who need to sign on won't be able to, or will they ?

Phil *****
If you can, do both. If you don't feel confident (fear of reprisals, etc) we can have a picket outside as well.

Bob *****
see my fear is playing into their hands, a fair few of us have refused to use the web site they are telling people "they must use" yet for many/most of us, doing that is not part of our back to work agreement. They want everyone doing job search and logging it online, this way your job search can be checked remotely, so the job center isn't needed. Causing hassle their only gives them another reason to close them. then we are stuck with 0898 costaFiver costaFiver to get help over the phone from someone who can't speak english on a call we cant afford. Meanwhile because their are masses of people unable to job search that way they can open a building, bring in staff and pc's, teach people to use email and jobsearch online (while skimming money off the funding for it all) Like they would of done policing the march. Meanwhile many of us end up with an online digital footprint we don't want. And if you've ever not been paid and experienced what they call "Missed Evidence" as the reason, imagine no one being paid for up to 48 hours and having a system to blame it on. Their already stealing interest on benefits paid into banks (they claim you sign on monday, its in the bank 1am Thursday.. so it apparently takes 3 days to clear, yet its a direct wire transfare, nothing is waiting to clear. OVH do it once a month with the rent, they call it a "Linked Transfer Account" and turn a debit into a credit for 24 hours (48 if you factor in were the credit is invested time zone wise) A lot of things im seeing here is what they want, adding that to the fact this group is owned by a union member (thats someone walking the same hallways as the people fkn us over) no offence but its a position were you "can" be approached to take a bribe. Call me paranoid but a lot of crap just looks seriously iffy : /

Phil *****
Well a lot of PCS members want to have an official stance of non-cooperation with sanctions, etc. The rank-and-file position is for an unofficial action if we can't get official action and to argue for explicitly political industrial action. This shoves people out of their comfort zone, but needs doing to beat the bastards in government and can only be done by building a practical solidarity on the ground through direct action.

Bob *****
solidarity at this stage in the game seams like a high expectation from anyone within the benefits service, if that's what your meaning, getting the dole staff onboard and maybe a walk out? they already no its wrong, a few ive spoken to have said their wondering when the riot gear is getting issued to staff

Phil *****
The aim of this is to get dole staff on board. There are already those refusing to sanction but they are few and isolated so we need to link them up and persuade more to take the same line.

Bob *****
but we also have to make people realize they dont have to do job search online (its not an obligation of the back to work agreament) because if we don't stop people subscribing to this and it goes all the way, then they will just shut the dole as it won't be required, the battle your planning here.. their already 3 steps ahead, i reckin you have 2, maybe 3 months and then bang, the doles shut, or atleast their'll be no sign ons their, then we've lost the building, all because people told "they must record the jobsearch online" ended up doing it because they "thought" they had to, your tryna get em board, and their already packing their bags, you not see this no ? : /

Bob *****
their a few steps away from closing the door & leaving people with an 8098 number if theirs any problems (and theirs stacks of problems) first concern should be keeping the dole "office" open

Bob *****
tell me im not the only one here seeing where this is leading? : /

Bob *****
the people in the dole are lying about the job search requirements, because it isn't mandatory, their packing for another ship, and it aint your boat their boarding

Phil *****
Agreed. We can draw up leaflets to let people know this stuff...

Bob *****
essentially your obligations are to do what it says in the back to work agreement, but even if it says you "must" use that job match url rather than the old site url, It still doesn't say you must be a member, you must give them access, it just says you agree to use the site and you agree to keep a record of your job search (not agree to keep a record on the site and give them access) It doesn't say anything that their saying to peoples faces & no ones back to work agreement says what them people in the dole are saying. So you'll find the reason people are "not" being sanctioned for not using the site, is simply because they can't sanction you for not using it (not how their saying you should be using it anyway) So that 1 or 2 refusing to do it aren't the good guys, their just the wise guys that no you can't stop benefits over a rule that's not currently mandatory. but trust me on this.. IF they win this little battle their having, and we all end up having to use the internet, then the dole shuts its doors one last time, then the library's start getting shut, then the majority can't job search : /

Bob *****
So the "few" who say they are refusing to sanction "they" are fulla sh*t dude

Unless they Amend Yours with an "Action/Order" to do it,, then fk em

Bob *****
I don't even sign on a Thursday anymore, so if anything, them changing my sign on day is in breach of what i should be doing, this is how organised they are, I strongly recommend people keep filling in their book, and they demand a book each time they need one, as per their back to work agreement, and don't sign a new one "not until it is mandatory to keep a record online" and lets see them Enforce that, when over 20% of the population can't use a pc or have access to one... This is what ya should be telling people (not go sit in the dole and give em a reason to lock the door)

Bob *****
what ever they write in that "Other Activities I Will Do To Improve My Changes Of Finding A Job" that phrase doesn't cover them to put anything in that box demanding you keep a record online.. because an online record simply wont help you find a job will it?, it'll just allow them to say the job centre is no longer required, they use terminology that doesn't cover what they are demanding & ive heard them demand it, ive had it said to my face "You Must Keep A Record Of Jobsearch on the site" or bring in a copy...

well thats what the "Looking For Work" booklet is for
prioritise on what you can do and what you actually shouldn't

Bob *****
also.. before anyone has a great idea to sit in at the "One Stop" instead of the job centre... "Hundreds Of People have NO Payment Card" so they have to get in their and get to the machine to pay towards their council tax, So we need them doors to be OPEN as well like : /

IMPORTANT INFO

We've been informed its now Mandatory to Register on the site
When your told to Upload your CV, that is also Mandatory
(No Need To Upload A CV Until Your Told Told To)

IT IS STILL NOT MANDATORY TO USE THE SITE TO RECORD YOUR JOB SEARCH
OR GIVE THEM ACCESS!!!

The thing is THIS information is still wonky at best
and it comes Direct From the DWP!!

As of Friday 1 March 2013, where appropriate advisers can require some Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) claimants to create a profile and public CV within the Universal Jobmatch service via the Government Gateway.

Initially, the Jobcentre Plus adviser will explain the benefits of the service to the claimant.  If they still refuse to use Universal Jobmatch, the adviser may then consider whether it is reasonable to issue a Jobseeker’s Direction to mandate them to create a profile and public CV on Universal Jobmatch.

Before issuing a Jobseeker’s Direction the adviser will take a claimant’s individual circumstances into account including whether they have access to the internet or not. Jobseeker’s Directions require Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants to take specific actions which will help them find work, and failure to do so without good reason may result in a benefit sanction.  Jobseeker’s Directions can be issued under section 19A(2)(c) of the Jobseekers Act 1995.

Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) claimants (jobseekers) can lawfully be sanctioned for refusing, without good reason, to follow a reasonable Jobseeker's Direction to create a profile and public CV in Universal Jobmatch.
Section 19A(2)(C) of the Jobseekers Act 1995 and regulation 69A of the Jobseeker's Allowance Regulations 1996 support this action.

Now I Understand this "Sign Up and Create a Public CV"
I would assume you leave OFF your address AND your Phone Number
also this will help Employers Find You (this is the ONLY reason they can force it upon you)

Question is... how long till they just Take Access rather than asking?

more info Here

WARNING:
ANYONE CAN SIGN UP AS AN EMPLOYER AND THEN SEARCH CV'S
LOOK AT YOUR HOBBY'S
YOUR INTERESTS
GET YOUR ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER
RING YOU OUT THE BLUE
HAVE YOU TRAVEL AWAY FROM YOUR HOME FOR A BOGUS INTERVIEW
THEN ROB EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!!!!

AN EMPLOYER CAN CONTACT YOU VIA THE JOB SITE
YET NO ONE TELLS YOU NOT TO INCLUDE PERSONAL DETAILS
OR WARNS YOU THAT YOUR HOME INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY OUT OVER THAT, JUST LIKE THEIR FACEBOOK POLICY CLAUSE!!!

  1. Its true people.. you signed that, its your agreement with them, so to bully you about doing something else is a little wrong..
make sure you fill in your little "Looking For Work Booklet" and tell them to erm.. fk off lol, they want us all on that site, this way you don't need to go the dole, but that means when someone doing data entry (checking ya job search) hits the wrong key and you don't get paid.. its 0898 to find out why, or try and get a hand out from a local authority (in bootle by the strand that would be OVH) so ide make a stand if i were you, its what im doing, im doing everything i meant to, and nothing they simply expect because they "said it" ide also not sign an updated agreement neither, until they show you what facts the agreement update is slated on
u wana really tear them a new one?
Ask who ever it is for a copy of their "Complaints Procedure" note its against the law not to provide one.. depending on when you singed to agrea with them JSA Regs

    1. their not even telling people to omit their home address or phone number, yet they do say don't include bank details, so they wrote something, yet clearly not enough. There is NOTHING inside your cv that can help them recommend applying for a job on the site, all they have to do is find you, click recommend, and attach the job. This goes out to everyone reading DON'T leave your Phone Number OR your Address inside your CV, because this is how their sharing information on the people who DON'T use the likes of facebook. This is clearly a Data Mining Exercise & a Digital Footprint Creation system

  2. The thing is although some are saying its now "Mandatory to Register" isn't this the first step to making it mandatory to gain access? Next thing they are applying for jobs that are miles away and defaulting you when you fail to go to the interview, that interview you new nothing about ??

    1. Yes that will be one of the next manoeuvres, bob points it out pretty well. But that "Stand Up In Bootle & Bend Over" group on facebook just plan to occupy the job centre anyway, so it wont be long before they shut the doors, with the reason given to avoid any distress to our staff
